Note: Grandma Conklin (Mary Adelia (Minnie) LaChapelle) said Louis LaChapelle, as a
small child, drowned at Alcona, which would have to be after 1855. (DJR 7/93)
His body was carried by his brothers to the Catholic Cemetery in Harrisville,
Michigan. He was the first burial there; his father gave the land, she
said, for the cemetery and the church.

Note: He was a stonemason by trade.Marriage was performed by Bishop Amadeus Rappe; witnesses were Francis LaXhapelle and "Margarite LaChapel According to an Alcona County Review obituary Catherine O'Neal married Edward LaChapelle in 1851 at the age of 16 years.
Edward LaChapelle was a stone mason; the family arrived in Harrisville, Michigan in 1865.
After Edward's death in 1875, Catherine married Alonzo Micho in 1876. An August 30, 1894 Alcona County Review article by Micho absolves him of any debts she might incur. She died at the home of her daughter Sarah (wife of Isaac Rose) December 11, 1894. She was the sister of Margaret and Matthew O'Neil.

seven sisters and two brothers survive, as well as her mother who is in her
ninety-third year.

Edward W. Chapelle graduated from high school in 1884. When Harrisville became
a City in 1905 he was the clerk.
Edward worked at scaling logs for seven years after finishing school. He taught
school for thirteen years. In 1898 he worked in the hardware business in
Harrisville. He was a staunch Republican. He was village clerk for fifteen
years, city clerk for one year; alderman for six years; Register of Deeds for
six years from 1895 to 1899. In 1911 he was serving as a member of the Board of
Aldermen.
Edward was amember of Masonic Lodge #292 Free and Accepted Masons of which he
was Worshipful Master in 1903-1904; affilated with the Independant Order of Odd
Fellows and the Knights of the Macabees.

Marilyn and I have traded Xeroxes of family photos. One is a postcard photo of Frederick and a woman and has the notation "June 16/07 5:30 pm Duluth, Minnesota" On the back is a note to Ruby where he refers to "myself and wife".
Also newspaper accounts memtioning Fred are facinating and protray him as adventurous. I refer to the ACR 24 Aug 1893 mention of Fred buying 183 acres of timber land in the State of Washington.
