Chappelle, Walter Louis (b. 23 MAY 1871, d. 13 AUG 1932)

Walter Chapelle never married. In 1889 he began an apprenticeship in the printer's trade. He worked in the printing office of George E. Gillan, editor of the Alcona County Review. Walter was also employed by the Alpena Pioneer for one year. He purchased the Alcona Copunty Review from Mr. Gillam in 1898.

Walter was a Republican and was elected to the office of Village Trustee, Village Treasurer, and was the county's Register of Deeds for eight years

He belonged to Alcona Lodge #292 Free & Accepted Masons and attained the 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite; he was also a member of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows.

Funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the M.E. Church, Rev. E. Stephens
officiating.

He married, March 27, 1667, Martha, daughter of John Cass. He served as representative to the general court for five years from 1722. Children: 1. Maria, born November 12, 1669. 2. John, October 7, 1672 : mentioned below. 3. Martha. December 23. 1674. 4. Joseph, December 28. 1678; died April 23, 1679. 5.
Abiel. May 17, 1681 ; married August 7, 1700, James Gordon. 6. Mary, June 3, 1686; married James Moulton.
